Heute abend, am Vorabend des Nyepi-Tages, findet die Ngrupuk-Parade statt. Hierzu werden wie, Du im Bild sehen kannst, von den Jugendlichen liebevoll in wochenlanger Handarbeit aufwendige und kreative Ogoh-Ogoh Figuren gebastelt, mit denen bei traditioneller Gamelan-Musik durch die Straßen des Dorfes gezogen wird – ein ähnliches Spektakel wie bei uns der Karneval.

Jedoch stellen die Ogoh-Ogoh-Figuren mythische Wesen, meist Dämonen, dar, die am Ende des Umzugs verbrannt werden.

Selbstverständlich ist auch dieser ausgelassene Umzug eine Zeremonie – sie dient der Reinigung der Umgebung und der Menschen von spirituellen Anhaftungen. Damit verbannen unsere balinesischen Freunde alle bösen Geister und Dämonen aus ihrem Dorf bevor morgen mit Nyepi das neue Jahr auf Bali startet.

Tonight is the Ngrupuk parade. For this, as you can see in the picture, the teenagers lovingly crafted Ogoh-Ogoh figures in weeks of manual labor elaborate with which traditional gamelan music is pulled through the streets of the village – a similar spectacle as our carnival.

The figures represent mystical beings, mostly demons, who are burned at the end of the procession.

Of course, even this frisky procession is a ceremony – it serves to cleanse the environment and the people of spiritual attachments.

With that, our Balinese friends banish all evil spirits and demons from their village before starting the new year on Bali with Nyepi tomorrow.
